Embedding spheres in knot traces

چکیده
Abstract The trace of the $n$ -framed surgery on a knot in $S^{3}$ is 4-manifold homotopy equivalent to 2-sphere. We characterise when generator second group such manifold can be realised by locally flat embedded $2$ -sphere whose complement has abelian fundamental group. Our characterisation terms classical and computable $3$ -dimensional invariants. For each , this provides conditions that imply topologically -shake slice, directly analogous result Freedman Quinn with trivial Alexander polynomial slice.

Heat Traces on Spheres and Combinatorial Identities
Abstract. We present a concise explicit expression for the heat trace coefficients of spheres. Our formulas yield certain combinatorial identities which are proved following ideas of D. Zeilberger. In particular, these identities allow to recover in a surprising way some known formulas for the heat trace asymptotics. Our approach is based on a method for computation of heat invariants developed...
متن کاملDoubly Stochastic Neighbor Embedding on Spheres
Recently, Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (SNE) methods have widely been applied in data visualization. These methods minimize the divergence between the pairwise similarities of highand low-dimensional data. Despite their popularity, the current SNE methods experience the “crowding problem” when the data include highly imbalanced similarities. This implies that the data points with higher total ...
متن کاملOn Embedding the Fundamental Group of a 3-manifold in One of Its Knot Groups
This paper gives necessary and sufficient conditions on a compact, connected, orientable 3-manifold M for it to contain a knot K such that M − K is irreducible and π1(M) embeds in π1(M −K). This result provides counterexamples to a conjecture of Lopes and Morales and characterizes those orientable 3-manifolds for which it is true.
متن کاملEvery Graph Has an Embedding in S3 Containing No Non-hyperbolic Knot
In contrast with knots, whose properties depend only on their extrinsic topology in S3, there is a rich interplay between the intrinsic structure of a graph and the extrinsic topology of all embeddings of the graph in S3. For example, it was shown by Conway and Gordon that every embedding of the complete graph K7 in S3 contains a non-trivial knot. Later it was shown that for every m ∈ N there i...
متن کاملSpatial Design for Knot Selection in Knot-Based Low-Rank Models
Analysis of large geostatistical data sets, usually, entail the expensive matrix computations. This problem creates challenges in implementing statistical inferences of traditional Bayesian models. In addition, researchers often face with multiple spatial data sets with complex spatial dependence structures that their analysis is difficult. This is a problem for MCMC sampling algorith...
